We joined together to recognize the veterans living in our community for their unwavering service to our great nation. On Saturday morning, November 11, 2017 we gathered in front of our community with members of the Flowing Wells ROTC for a flag raising ceremony. Over 25 ROTC students then visited with veterans delivering letters of appreciation and listening to their stories. The ROTC Color Guard members were paired with 3 WW ll veterans and 2 other veterans for lunch in the Gallery Café. Our salute started at 2:00pm, with the talented Wendy Sweet singing the national anthem, the invocation was presented by our very own retired pastor and veteran Glenn Murray. The program included reading the names of all the veterans who live in our community and a moving message delivered by Lt. Col. Dave Falkner. The Lt. Col. gave each veteran a star from a flag that had flown over Tucson. It was day of acknowledgement and humble gratitude to all the brave patriots who have suffered and sacrificed to uphold our freedoms that we hold so dear. Thank you!
