The idea for Soul Box began in Portland, Oregon in 2017. People wondered what can they could do to raise awareness about gun violence. The idea to make a visual statement honoring the victims by using something very simple: little paper origami boxes. Right now all that’s needed are two squares of paper and some creative time. Joining together to create art that helps raise awareness to the loss generated by guns is important. The residents here are sponsoring a workshop in the Art Room in our Town Center neighborhood on Friday, January 11th, 2019 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm to make a Soul Boxes. It’s easy, fun, and can show how much we care about creating a better world. This is a demonstration of the residents taking a stand and honoring those impacted by loss to gun violence.
