Every Saturday a group of very creative, ecologically minded residents meet and transform your basic plastic bags into works of art. They cut the colorful bags into strips and form a ball of “plastic yarn,” which they crochet into a large mat. The mats are then donated to the homeless population. The mats provide insulation and a cushioned layer against the ground. We were able to donate over 20 mats delivered to the homeless camp with the help of some volunteers from our local community.
