Residents Pat and George Yuhas are Enjoying Great Food and Friends at The Fountains

Time marches on. Move to make the most of it.

“We knew that maybe later on we wouldn’t be able to do the things like getting things out of the house, having an estate sale, selling the house and so forth. It would be much easier at that time than waiting ‘til later so that’s what prompted us.” – Pat Yuhas, resident of The Fountains at La Cholla

You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. George Yuhas was a high school teacher and tennis coach in Tucson when he met Pat, an elementary school teacher and avid tennis player as well. Married for 37 years, they moved two years ago into a spacious Casita at The Fountains at La Cholla. Now they’re much closer to the church where Pat served as Deacon and Elder. On any given day, you’ll find Pat playing Bridge or attending a book club meeting or jewelry committee. George likes to exercise on his recumbent bicycle on their private patio. Both enjoy tending to their variety of plants and hopping in the community van whenever they care to dine at The Town Center at The Fountains.

Even if you feel like you’re not ready to move, it’s worth your time to explore the possibilities. You’ll have fun and just may discover a way of living that’s better than you ever imagined. You may be reluctant to start looking before you’re ready, but the earlier you begin, the better informed you’ll be when and if the time comes. The minute you begin exploring, you’ll discover that no two retirement communities are alike. By examining your options carefully, over time you’ll become an expert, properly equipped to move confidently toward your best future. Take Pat’s advice and don’t wait another day to begin. “You never know what the future might bring so if they’re thinking about it, I would start the process….” – Pat Yuhas

Pat and George decided they did not want to burden their four kids with the house when it started getting to be too much work for them, so they started looking at different retirement communities. Pat knew about The Fountains through her work at the church. They found the people very welcoming and fell in love with the inside and outside of their spacious Casita, which is like home without the housework, maintenance or taxes. The ease of dining was a clincher. “When I was in the dining room I thought how beautiful this is and what a wonderful choice we have of food. So I mean that sold me right there. The idea of not cooking anymore was wonderful.” – Pat Yuhas

Moving to The Fountains has proven to be a great decision for George and Pat. It’s easy for them to continue to pursue their independent interests as well as enjoy time with each other and together with friends. Plus they find the location ideal. “We love living here in the Casitas and especially where we are. We’ve made a lot of wonderful friends…. It is so close to all of our doctors. We just drive around the corner most of the time.” – Pat Yuhas
